hilda and i spent a few hours at james st today, where we had a wander around the shops, lunch at luxe and then saw “burn after reading”. it was a great movie…very funny in a dark kind of way… with both brad & george on screen it’s bound to be a winner!

afterward we picked up some turkish from efes one and headed to sharon’s for a girls night in. great food & drink, awesome music, lotsa laughs and even a few tears. later on we were joined by teggo, amd and paul. all in all a fantastic day.

j.a.m.m. were at the tivoli again tonight to see the final gig on the rock chicks calender for the year – dan kelly and augie march.

dan kelly was doing some serious channelling of chris isaak with the guitar and hair thing happening. he was very funny, with a gorgeous voice and kinda cute to boot.

then the main act…augie march. i had seen them once before and absolutely loved their melodic tunes. glenn richards though i think is rather temperamental and tonight there was tension in the air (as well as some technical problems). his voice was superb – the music edgier than last time but occasionally a little self indulgent. we all agreed we got a little lost by it at times. having said that there were lots of moments of sheer brilliance and it was certainly worthwhile seeing them.

jane summed it up perfectly,
“now when i listen to augie i see it in a completely different light. that’s what i love about live music – it’s vitality and its capacity to surprise”.

so girls, thanks for so many fun nights at the tiv of late. i have thoroughly enjoyed your company and look forward to more exciting adventures with you all next year.

today was just one of those lovely peaceful days.
after a string of early morning shifts i had the day off work.
managed to catch up on a few things around home.
snuck out for a quiet coffee.
chatted to friends.
then to top it off i discovered this blossoming hydrangea in the front yard.

zach has been incredibly good during this whole broken arm drama
he usually plays cricket and swims over summer but obviously cant right now
no skateboarding, kicking the footy, bouncing on trampoline, riding bikes or any kind of rough and tumble
it’s been difficult at times fighting the boredom
but tonight he sharpened all his pencils
and decided to design some skateboarding shoes

this afternoon saw us at georgia’s first ever piano recital. it was a small concert and several of her school friends also performed. just lovely!

my mum arrived from interstate early this morning for a quick visit
i was at work, so she looked after the kids for me.

mum was quickly introduced to the ‘drop in centre’ that is our house, as she unexpectedly catered lunch for 8, several of whom she has never met before.

mum lives opposite the beach and ever since the kids were babies they have associated her with the beach. they love their nana so much.

today is teggo’s actual 40th birthday, so a group of us went to the brekky creek hotel for lunch to celebrate.
i’ve raved about him before here.
a few years back, i shared one of the best meals i have ever had with him. we had all been on a holiday together at rainbow beach. the day we left we drove all the way down to noosa on the beach, hooning along the sand watching the waves crash as we went. it was a gorgeous sunny queensland day and we decided to have lunch at one of our fave noosa restaurants, ricky ricardo’s. we sat at a table set up under the hugest white umbrellas set out on the lovely lush green lawn. it was just beautiful. the kids could wander while we relaxed. we spared no expense (the champagne we drank was more per glass than i have ever paid for a bottle) and thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered from the tapas style menu.
come to think of it, 4 of my top 5 restaurant experiences have been with teggo!

you know that saying, there are friends for a season, a reason or a lifetime. teggo definitely falls into the latter category.
